"Life shouldn’t be a struggle. Life should be a flowing smooth thing. This isn’t a hard world to live in, this isn’t hard dimension to live in. If you surround yourself with the right people and if you do the right things, and if you are as good of a person as you are capable of to other people; you will find that the world will make a place for you. What happens to you is dictated by the things you think about. You should always think good things and always look for the good in the world. If you look for the bad in the world, you will always find something bad. But if you look for the good you will find it, it is there."
— John Frusciante
I know how much it feels like what happens here is gonna dictate the path of the rest of your life, but let me be clear. If you don’t get into Harvard or Yale, or even if you do get into those schools, your numbers and your test scores and your statistics; they’re not as important your growth as a human being, your relationships with other people, the risks you’re willing to take. If you’re learning, you’re growing, you’re getting smarter, you’re gonna do better in life even if you’re numbers aren’t reflecting it. And if you’re grades are great then, fantastic, you keep that up but please make sure that you are becoming great as a person as well. They don’t grade you, on your SATs or at Oxford, on how you treat other people, on how your react to real-life conflict or stress, on how you handle success or failure, and often that’s gonna go a long way in what you accomplish in this world.
